Meet the Therapist

I’m TyaCamellia Stone, LMFT

But you can call me Tya!

(Pronounced Tia)

I know that you're tired of worrying.

— and worrying about worrying.

Worrying if you're doing enough, or trying enough—

Worrying if you're enough.

You get so caught up in controlling how others see and respond to you, that you forget how to be yourself. You’re distracted and detached.

Maybe you aren’t sure if you can trust your own thoughts and emotions — let alone understand someone else’s.

Maybe you aren’t sure how to navigate a big transition in your life.

Maybe you grew up feeling afraid of people and the world, and you finally want to thrive rather than just survive.

It's my life's passion to help people enhance their quality of life by improving their relationship with themselves, and with other people.

I became a therapist because I believe everyone deserves a great sense of self and relationships that they actually want to be in.

I know what it's like to be confused, afraid, and unsure of whether or not things will be okay.

I know what it’s like to have a mind racing with “maybe” scenarios of “what ifs,” “whys,” and “should haves.”

I know what it’s like to feel as though I am in it alone, and there is no one is there to help, let alone understand.

Through my thousands of hours of working with couples and individuals, I've come to understand what people who come to therapy need.

You are seeking to live authentically, to create real connection with others, and to feel in control of you life.

You are looking for a sounding board where your thoughts and emotions can surface and be explored without judgment.

You are looking for a place to untangle your thoughts, emotions, memories, and aspirations, and create a positive meaning from it all.

Most people who work with me have had therapy before — but something was off.

It was either too structured or too focused on using short-term methods to solve long-term problems.

Kind of like frantically trying to mop-up an over flowing tub, rather than just turning off the faucet.

My approach is exploring the roots.

Cultivating a life you love with relationships that nourish you may not be easy, but it can be simple.

Together, we walk with you through the uncertainty and discomfort of branching out in ways you’ve never done before.

You’re not dealing with this alone anymore.

We are in this together!

Let’s plant some new seeds!

“The only person you are destined to become, is the person you decide to be.”

– Ralph Waldo Emerson

Licenses & Experience

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the states of California, LMFT #112207, and Nevada LMFT #2779-R.

I have worked in research clinics, group and solo private practice settings, and community-based non-profit organizations.

Much of my experience has been with people 20-55 years of age, who struggle with high functioning anxiety, relational problems, navigating difficult transitions, deep self-exploration, personal development, and trauma.

Education

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology at University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. Sociology is different from Psychology, in that it considers the social context that impacts a person and their relationships, rather than just focusing on the individual as if they are internally flawed.

I earned my Master’s Degree in Couples & Family Therapy at Alliant International University in Sacramento, CA, which is an exclusive and rigorous school that is accredited at the highest level in our field. Couples & Family Therapy programs are different from Marriage & Family Therapy programs because they considers the diversity of couples outside of the institution of marriage, and families that may be considered nontraditional.

Training & Certifications

I have extensive training in a variety of modalities and populations including, but not limited to:

  • Certified Clinical Telemental Health Provider

  • Certified Dancing Mindfulness Facilitator

  • Trauma-Informed and Strength-Based

  • Gottman Couples Therapy Level II

  • Solution-Focused

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

  • Narrative Therapy

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Fun Facts About Me
